Shook – Nov 12

Shook is a charming coming of age story about a college grad hoping to become a writer. Ash faces challenges establishing himself and finds himself commuting to a hip coffee shop in downtown Toronto where he hangs out with other writers sipping lattes and banging away at their laptops.

He’s also struggling to accept his parents' divorce, with particular anger towards his father, because of his infidelity. Ash however puts that pain aside when he learns of his father’s serious Parkinson's diagnosis.

The director’s background as a documentary filmmaker manifests itself in the film’s palette of everyday life. The movie feels lived in and authentic, as if we’re stepping into Ash’s life midstream. And the humanity that interweaves the characters in the film reveals universal connections that we can all relate to.
