The Mother And The Bear February 11

Sumi, a young Korean Canadian woman living in Winnipeg, might have had an encounter with a bear, on a wintry night, in a dark, deserted alley. She’s now in a hospital in a coma. Her mother, Sara, rushes to her daughter’s bedside from Korea. And a comedy of manners ensues.

Sara has never experienced a Canadian winter and now has to learn to drive in one. That’s just one of Sara’s surprises.

She’s also worried that her daughter hasn’t married and having just discovered online dating, she creates a fake persona for her daughter which results in its own humorous results.

There’s also a light touch of magic realism in a film of family, culture and belonging. A charming film with lots of crowd-pleasing humour- it will leave you with a big smile on your face.
