ALL WE IMAGINE AS LIGHT – Feb. 12

All We Imagine As Light, winner of the 2024 Grand Prix at Cannes, was the first Indian feature to play in competition at the festival in 30 years.

Set in Mumbai, it offers a perceptive and detailed view of working-class women focusing on two nurses who share an apartment and work at the same hospital.

We’re immersed in the rhythms of the city with both an insightful and a lyrical perspective.

Yet every strand of this story is also deeply political, whether it’s one of the women’s love life, another’s attempt to help an undocumented coworker keep her apartment, or the obvious gender dynamic of the hospital’s all-female workforce of nurses.

“All We Imagine As Light” is the quiet surprise masterpiece of 2024. Rolling Stone, David Fear
